History – From ICHS to ICCP
Dear IC Alumni, Parents and Friends,
Over the past two years, school leadership, along with our faculty, staff and Board of Directors, have been working very hard to define the position we want to own in the minds of potential students and their families moving forward.
When we first sat down to consider this issue, we realized it would be very easy to rest on our laurels.
For example, we could talk about how we are the oldest Co-educational Catholic high school in the county at 75 years and counting.
We could talk about our seniors and how they are consistently accepted each year into some of the most prestigious universities in the nation.
We could even talk about the spirit and compassion that are ever-present throughout our immediate and extended school family.
Or…or we could boldly focus on what truly makes us, well, us.
After all, there are many high schools, which are proud of their heritage, just as there are many high schools with students who continue on to the best colleges, or which celebrate the closeness of their school communities.
In the marketplace, many schools compete using the “one up” mentality. We don’t have to. We are no longer going to be humble. We know our strengths and what makes us unique. We are IC!
I encourage all who have a history with IC to open your mind and your heart to our new brand. As of January 1, 2013, Immaculate Conception High School will be known as IC Catholic Prep. You will see that this is a very positive change for us. We are very excited for the future of our high school and hope you will share in our enthusiasm. Go Knights!

Breaking the Mold.
Welcome to IC Catholic Prep, The School for Independent Thinkers.
We believe our new name accomplishes a great deal: it retains the heritage of our blessed Mother and the Immaculate Conception (“IC”); it honors our mission as a Catholic school first and foremost (“Catholic”); and it succinctly communicates our focus on preparing students for college (“Prep”). Furthermore, the IC Catholic Prep Name more clearly distinguishes us from our elementary school, with which we share a campus.
Our new Tagline – The School for Independent Thinkers – is how we want people to think about us when comparing our school to the many other high schools in the area. It reflects how we want to develop our Students; it reflects the mindset of faculty and staff we employ today and will seek to recruit in the future; and it is what ultimately differentiates us from neighboring Catholic high schools.
IC Catholic Prep provides six distinct benefits to each student. More than a grade point average, a diploma or any athletic achievement, these are the specific outcomes we want and expect every student to enjoy. More than anything – more than any name change or tagline – these benefits are our brand.
- Break the Mold.
- Experience How High School Should Be.
- Reach Your Potential.
- Surprise Yourself.
- Succeed at More Than Just College.
- Matter More.
While we recognize this is a significant step for our students, parents, alumni and friends of IC, we want to assure our entire school and the community that this is an informed decision made from a position of strength and stability. We firmly believe that today is the opportune time – the right time – to follow our own advice and break the mold.
So again, we warmly welcome you to the new IC Catholic Prep – and remember,
Once a Knight, Always a Knight!
