ICCP Continues to Enhance Classroom Technology With New Chromebook Cart
In late November of 2016, ICCP reached out to our alumni, benefactors, families and friends with a very specific “Giving Tuesday” request, and the ICCP community responded. We sought funds to expand the technology resources available to our students, further supporting our Technology on Demand strategy.
With an initial project cost of $10,000, the goal was to raise $1,000 on “Giving Tuesday” to get things started. We were pleasantly surprised by the quick response and generosity shown by ICCP constituents. $3,400 was raised on Giving Tuesday, allowing us to roll out 15 Lenovo N22 11.6 inch Chromebooks to be shared across the classrooms. Fifteen additional devices will be added in the coming months.
In today’s classroom, smart phones, Chromebooks, tablets, and laptops have become common educational tools. ICCP’s Technology on Demand strategy focuses on having the technology necessary to meet the specific applications of every academic program. Since many students already have smart phones or other devices, our goal is to supplement with the latest technology internally as a way to ensure a variety of solutions are available and students can safely charge, maintain, and store devices. The Chromebooks supplement our school’s existing tablets, and provide a technology solution when the full processing power of a tablet isn’t needed. By engaging faculty and staff on an annual basis, ICCP is ensuring that our technology path supports classroom best practices and the robust, college preparatory curriculum.
