Venturing downtown Chicago usually results in traffic jams on the 290 and/or construction detours along the way from Elmhurst, but throw in the fact that two locations exist for NBC Chicago (the NBC Tower near Michigan Avenue and NBC Sports Chicago near the Merchandise Mart) and the bus driver has a fifty-fifty chance of dropping you off at the wrong location.
After a short walk from NBC Tower, Ms. Bettina Recchia and 19 students from her journalism class, arrived at the studios of NBC Sports Chicago for a tour and introduction to live television sports broadcasting.
The students were given a complete tour of the NBC Sports Chicago studios courtesy of Danni Wysocki, senior booker and newsroom manager. She introduced the students to editors, producers, on-air talent from PFW Live (Pro Football Weekly) with Pat Boyle and expert panel led by Bears legend/Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Hampton, NFL expert/former Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt and PFW founder Hub Arkush.
“We are so thankful to the NBC Sports Chicago team, especially Danni, for their hospitality,” said Ms. Recchia, English and Journalism teacher. “This was a wonderful experience for our young men and women to see first-hand all of the behind-the-scenes and on-camera action that goes into producing sports television programming.”
